The surgical work of Bristol Laparoscopic Associates (Colorectal) at North Bristol NHS Trust specialises in advanced techniques for the treatment of both common and unusual problems of the small, large bowel and anus. 


The North Bristol Colorectal unit is lead by Mr Alan Roe and comprises

This experienced surgical team is supported by experts in allied disciplines.

Within the unit there is a strong commitment to

The clinical interests of the department include all aspects of coloproctology.  In addition to this broad generality much of the minimally invasive workload is generated by tertiary referrals within special areas of interests including:

  • Ulcerative colitis (laparoscopic colectomy & restorative ileoanal pouch)
  • Crohn’s Diseas (Laparoscopic ileal caecectomy & small bowel resection)

  • Malignant and pre-malignant disease of the large bowel

Proctology

  • Haemorrhoids (PPH)
  • Rectal prolapse (STARR & Laparoscopic ventral rectopexy)
  • Faceal incontinence (PNS)
