An American firm is poised to take over the procurement arm of the NHS in the bigest privatisation of the NHS reports the Times this week.  Novation is negotiating a contract that will give it and its German partner, DHL, responsibility for buying everything from plasters tohip implants.  The NHS Logistics Authority and Purchasing and Supply Agency, spends more than £4bn a year.  The public sector union, Unison, is planning to ballet its members on strike action over the move.
