BOSS/Ethicon EndoSurgery Fellowships

Applications are invited for two clinical fellowhips in laparoscopic bariatric surgery, administered by the British Obesity Surgery Society and generously funded by Ethicon EndoSurgery.  The fellowships will be based in Leeds (Mr S Dexter) and Luton & Dunstable (Mr V Jain).

The 2008 Fellowships will each be for a three month period and are open to SpRs in year 5/6 in posession of a National Training Number who intend to practice bariatric surgery within the UK after appointment to a substantive consultant post.  The posts would also be suitable for post-CST trainees wishing to sub-specialise in bariatric surgery.

The fellowships commence anytime from April 2008 and must be completed by December 2008.

Successful applicants will be sent an information pack containing job plans from bariatric units within the UK who are willing to offer training.  Candidates nominate the training unit(s) which they feel would best suit their needs.

The fellowship provides the trainee with £5K per month payable to the Fellow's current employer to cover any loss of NHS salary incured by taking up the post.  There is no formal on-call commitment.
